Today’s the day, #ActiveBadgers. Can you smell it? Registration is now open for Spring Intramurals! To mark this special occasion, we’ve invited Ashley Lax, Assistant Director of Competitive Sports, to the blog to tell us more about the first step in preparing for glory (or a coveted championship t-shirt): the IM Pass.
As the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports, my wardrobe consists of three things: khakis, polos and championship t-shirts. During my time as an undergrad, I won a total of 20 championship shirts and I took home 3 more rings — I mean shirts — as a grad student. All in all, I calculated that my IM team registrations over that timespan totaled almost $2,000, and as captain, my pocket felt most of that. Totally worth it? Of course. But in times of rising costs for students, our Division feels that a student’s escape into recreation shouldn’t cost more than books. So the Competitive Sports team has created the IM Pass to give students more bang for their buck when it comes to playing intramural sports.
WHAT IS THE IM PASS?
The brand new IM Pass is exactly what it sounds like: a pass that gives you access to participate in intramural sports. Whether you’re a casual player or a diehard IM decathlete, the IM Pass can be customized to each student’s intramural needs.
WHAT DO I GET WITH AN IM PASS?
Depending on the pass package purchased, you can enter or play on a team in every sport and activity offered that semester or year. Only want to play on one team? We have an IM Pass for you too! Check out the list of sports below to get an idea of all activities included in the IM Pass.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
To purchase an IM Pass, log onto your IMLeagues account from the Rec Sports website. (Here.) Once logged on, you can create a team or add yourself to a team in any sport desired. You will then be prompted to purchase a pay package, which is your own personal IM Pass.
The IM Pass comes in three forms: Team Pass, Semester Pass and Year Pass.
Only want to play on one team? The Team Pass is for you! For only $15, you can create a team in any sport or event, or play on a team your friend has already created. From there, you are all set to start your journey to the IM Championships. And if you chang
e your mind and want to play on more teams, upgrade your Team Pass to the Semester or Year Pass and you just have to pay the difference!
Do you play more than one intramural sport per semester, but you’re not sure if you’ll continue for the whole year? The Semester Pass is for you. Choose the Semester Pass for only $25 and get ready to play as much as you would like! The Semester Pass allows you to play on one single gender and one co-rec team for every offered activity. That’s up to 32 teams in a semester. Talk about chances at a title run!
Are you a full time student and part time intramural athlete? The Year Pass will keep you playing all year around, including the summer! Like the Semester Pass, you will be able to play on one single gender and one co-rec team for every activity offered, giving you up to 64 playing opportunities each year, all for $45. Talk about a steal! (Pun intended!)
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Head to IMLeagues, choose your desired sport and complete the registration process, including the captain’s quiz. You will then be prompted to pay for your team. Choose your desired IM Pass pay package and provide payment. Once complete, you will need to invite the minimum number of players required to move your team to your desired division. Provide your friends’ email addresses or recruit free agents, and then help them select the best IM Pass for their intramural needs. Once your squad is set, get ready for the season to start!
