Bakke Block Party presented by The James

Join us for a jam-packed afternoon to kick off the fall, Rec Well block party style!
We’ll have lots of fun outdoor activities along Observatory Drive, including Observatory Rec, the new East Recreation Fields, and the lawn space outside of Bakke. We’ll also have a blast inside, with activities like free ice skating and a teaching kitchen open house. Check out the dropdown below for a full list of activities!

UW-Madison Kick Off Blood Drive
Date: Tuesday, September 2 – Thursday, September 4
Time: 11am – 5pm
Location: Nicholas Recreation Center
Registration required: Suggested, walk-ins will be taken but you can also sign-up for a time to donate.
Tackle the need for blood and start the semester off right with this years annual American Red Cross blood drive. Every two seconds in the United States blood is needed to respond to a patient emergency. All presenting donors will receive a Red Cross t-shirt, and a free Ian’s Pizza slice card (as quantities allow).

Free Group Fitness Classes presented by American Family Insurance
Date: Wednesday, September 3 – Tuesday, September 9
Location: Nicholas Recreation Center & Bakke Wellbeing & Recreation Center
Registration required: No
Enjoy free walk-in group fitness classes for the first week of school, on us! Our instructors lead fun and motivating group workouts designed for all fitness levels. Whether you want to connect to your breath with yoga or pump up the beat with Zumba, you’ll find what you’re looking for in our wide variety of classes.
You must be a UW-Madison student or Rec Well member to participate.

Nick @ Night presented by The James

Bucky’s Great Escape
Date: Saturday, September 13
Time: 1 – 3pm
Location: Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center, Courts 3 & 4
Registration required: Yes
Join other UW Madison students in rescuing Bucky from his sett (a badger’s den) by working together to solve puzzles and complete fun team challenges. Come with a friend or come on your own! This will be a fun opportunity to connect with other students.
