Hello Active Badgers!
I’m Parker Goss, the Coordinator of Intramural Sports here at Rec Well. We’re happy to announce that we’ll be offering Staff Intramural Sports again this summer! For those unfamiliar, in the summer, UW-Madison employees can participate in dedicated staff leagues/divisions across all our sport offerings. We have a lot coming up this summer, so I’ll break down some of the highlights.
3v3 Basketball
It’s time to take advantage of one of our greatest outdoor resources, the Observatory Recreation Area! The summer is heating up, and I bet that jumper is too. Registration will begin Monday, May 26 with games beginning Monday, June 16, and it should be a great start to our summer Intramural Sports offerings. These unofficiated games are held at the Observatory Recreation Courts, in front of Cole Hall.
Trivia at the Union
It may be the summer, but class is still in session. Get on down to the Memorial Union on Tuesday, June 24 and Tuesday, July 29 and show everyone those random facts you’ve been hanging onto aren’t so useless after all. Trivia may not be a “sport”, but a champ shirt is still on the line, so I would expect a bit of ~friendly~ competition. Food will be provided as well! Trivia will begin at 5:15pm.
Kickball
Perhaps our biggest hit every summer, Kickball is BACK at the Near West Fields. Registration for this fan favorite opens on Tuesday, July 1, so you’ll have plenty of time to get in on the action, as kickball will be a part of our second session of offerings to ring out the summer.
Esports Offerings
This year we are bringing back some Esports and gaming offerings to the summer program. There will be weekly leagues playing the games Fortnite and Valorant in the first half of the summer, and weekly leagues in League of Legends, Smash Brothers Ultimate in the back half. If you are a card game fan, you can even join us for our Cribbage Tournament on Thursday, July 24 and Euchre Tournament on Thursday, August 7, held in Memorial Union!
Membership Requirements: Staff with an active Rec Well membership will only need to purchase the $10 Summer Intramural Sports Pass to participate. Non-members will be able to purchase the $20 non-member pass to be eligible for participation all summer long!
To sign up: You can pick up an IM pass on our website and sign up for the leagues on the Fusion Play App, just login with your UW credentials!
