At Rec Well, we work consistently to best meet our members’ needs. One of the best ways for us to do this is by responding to member feedback. Lines, wait times, and congestion around strength equipment at the Nick, specifically in the Powerhouse, is one of the most commonly submitted pieces of feedback we receive. To address this, the Fitness Equipment Work Team began assessing the equipment and space in the facilities, and began collecting information from members on how we could improve the composition of the Powerhouse. This process has been ongoing for the past two years.
In June, we unveiled the renovated Powerhouse. Keep reading to see what changed, and where to find alternate spaces for your preferred style of movement.
- Here are the significant changes to the Powerhouse:
- Removal of the turf in the middle of the space and installation of Mondo gym flooring
- Double the number of cable stacks
- Double the number of Olympic flat benches
- One additional deadlift platform
- New upper body plate-loaded machines
- More space for mat and functional work in front of the southeast mirrors
- If you’re wondering where you can find turf now, check these locations:
- Level 3 at the Nick, to the left of the stairs (northwest corner)
- Level 3 at Bakke, on the left side of the floor (northeast portion)
- If you are looking for a space to warm up before you train at the Nick, check here:
- The stretching mat on Level 1, past all the cardio equipment
- The functional fitness area near the turf on Level 3
- The spaces on either side of the track on Level 4
- All of the spaces mentioned above can be viewed in our facility tour video playlists, on YouTube. Check out the playlists here.
We hope you are excited about the improvements to the Nick! We welcome your comments, questions, or concerns as a member and you can submit that through our feedback form. If you are interested in opportunities to give your feedback through a future focus group or a listening session, keep an eye on our social media and our newsletters!
