Crafting the Perfect Spring Rec Well Bucket List

As the semester comes to a close, and finals start to gear up, it is important to take advantage of the nice weather and focus on wellbeing. Here at Rec Well, we have lots of opportunities to get outside, soak up the sun, and to focus on wellbeing. Whether it’s outside playing, inside climbing, or reflecting on personal habits and working on mindfulness, we have something for everyone!

Get Outside 🌞

East Recreation Fields

Located in front of Dejope Residence Hall and to the east of the Bakke, these turf fields are open March – November, and are a great way to enjoy the outdoors with Rec Well. Open Sunrise – 9pm, these fields are used for intramurals, sport club practices, and open recreation play!

Observatory Recreation Area

Located in front of Cole Residence Hall, and across from Steenbock Memorial Library, Observatory Rec is the perfect spaces for Lakeshore residents or outdoor enthusiasts to get outside and get active. Get out in the sun and enjoy basketball, tennis, or sand volleyball!

Fitness Trail

Are you like us and love walking or running along the Lakeshore Path and enjoying the beautiful view? If so, you can level up your workout by using our elements of the Fitness Trail. With nine elements along Lakeshore Path, focus on targeting different muscle groups, and enjoy a fun outdoor workout!

Finish the Semester Out Strong, Not Stressed 💪

Mindful Meditation

Does the idea of post spring break midterms stress you our? Already worried about finals? If you are feeling this way, it can be beneficial to step back and take a pause. With our weekly Mindful Meditation sessions, come slow down, take a breather, and connect with yourself. These sessions are open to anyone, regardless of experience. Join us Wednesdays @ The Nick in Balance from Noon – 12:30pm, and Thursdays @ Bakke in Serenity from 4 – 4:30pm.

Wellbeing Workshops

Reflection and storytelling can be a great way to relieve stress. Join us and award-winning filmmaker and visual artist Viviane Silvera in a self-reflection and memory workshop, Memory in Motion. Learn about how personal stories affect identity, and learn how memory works and how we can work with it to focus on personal growth, emotional connection, and narrative clarity.  Join us Tuesday, April 21, @ Bakke in Serenity from 6:30-7:30pm for this insightful and impactful workshop.

Already planning your finals study crawl? Include our Study Break at Bakke in your schedule. Friday, May 1, @ Bakke from 10am – 3pm. Either hit the books and get studying in our quiet study space in Serenity, or relax in our break space in Tempo with crafts, snacks, and cuddles from Hoagie the therapy dog. If you are graduating, come decorate your cap from 2 – 5pm!
