Hello Active Badgers!
I’m Parker Goss, the Coordinator of Intramural Sports here at Rec Well. We’re happy to announce that we’ll be offering Staff Intramural Sports again this summer! For those unfamiliar, in the summer, UW-Madison employees can participate in dedicated staff leagues/divisions across all our sport offerings. We have a lot coming up this summer, so I’ll break down some of the highlights.
3v3 Basketball
It’s time to take advantage of one of our greatest outdoor resources, the Observatory Recreation Area! The summer is heating up, and I bet that jumper is too. Registration will begin Sunday, May 10 with games beginning on Monday, May 25 and it’s guaranteed to be a great start to our summer Intramural Sports offerings. These un-officiated games are held at the Observatory Recreation Courts, in front of Cole Hall.
Lunchtime Game Series
New to Staff Intramural Sports this year is the Lunchtime Game Series! Here, academic staff and faculty will have a chance to compete over the lunch hour with competitions including trivia, board games, and video games. Locations will vary, but Week One begins May 25 and registration will run from May 10 – May 20.
Sand Volleyball
You asked and we delivered! Even more sand volleyball coming right up this summer. Sand volleyball leagues will take on Mondays, Tuesdays AND Thursdays beginning Monday, May 25, so make sure to get your team registered by the May 20 deadline!
Kickball
Perhaps our biggest hit every summer, Kickball is BACK at the Bruce Family Fields (formerly Near West Fields). This fan favorite begins on Tuesday, July 7, and teams will play each Tuesday to crown a champion on July 28. Registration for kickball opens on June 21 and will close on July 1.
Membership Requirements: Staff with an active Rec Well membership will only need to purchase the $10 Summer Intramural Sports Pass to participate. Non-members will be able to purchase the $20 non-member pass to be eligible for participation all summer long!
To sign up: You can pick up an Intramural Sports pass on our website and sign up for the leagues on the Fusion Play App, just login with your UW credentials! Teams can be made up of any UW-Madison staff, so feel free to extend those invites across campus!
