My Journey in Athletic Training

My name is Manny Corona, and I am an affiliate athletic trainer at Rec Well. I knew I wanted to become an athletic trainer while I was in high school, and I was able to see what athletic training was through an internship experience. Following this experience, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from SUNY Brockport.

After becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) in 2020, I worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. As the primary athletic trainer, I was able to use my skills to diagnose and treat highly competitive, Division I athletes from multiple athletic teams.

Throughout my 2 years at Canisius, I established relationships with hundreds of athletes. Our therapeutic relationship goes beyond what one would expect from any other healthcare provider.

As an athletic trainer, I spent every day with my athletes. Whether it was in the athletic training room, or on the road across the country. This allowed me to watch my athletes grow and develop throughout their college years. My favorite memories are full of watching them perform on “big stages.”

I am extremely motivated to provide excellent medical care through the relationship that I have with each one of my athletes. Additionally, I hope to provide outstanding medical care by continuing to develop as a health care provider. Therefore, after being an athletic trainer for 3 years, I decided to pursue physical therapy because I would like to evolve my current skill set so that I can continue to provide excellent medical care to a diverse patient population with unique medical conditions.
