Beginning the week of May 18, the Nicholas Recreation Center will undergo a project to replace more than 30 mirrors throughout the building. Work will take place daily from approximately 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and is expected to continue through May 22.
While the Nick will remain open, members may experience temporary impacts in locker rooms, restrooms, and select fitness areas during this time.
What to Expect
Main locker rooms:
- Main locker rooms will remain available for locker storage
- Showering, changing, and restroom use will temporarily shift to the team locker rooms on Monday and Tuesday during active work hours (approximately 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
- Members should wear shoes when walking through active work zones in locker room areas
- Freight elevator access will be available to use if needed to access the team locker rooms
Also look out for:
- Some restrooms and fitness areas may have brief closures while mirror replacement work is completed.
- Signage will be posted throughout the Nick to help find alternate routes and available spaces
Timeline
Work is scheduled in phases and may progress faster than anticipated in some areas. As areas are completed, spaces may reopen earlier than expected. Updated signage let you know about these changes in real time.
Additional Considerations
- Youth programming and special events in the building during this week may result in higher traffic in certain areas.
- Members may notice crews working in multiple zones throughout the facility between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily
We recognize that these temporary changes can be stressful, and we appreciate your patience as we complete these improvements. Our goal is to minimize impact while keeping a safe and accessible environment for all members.
